Opposition to Marriage Equality is Attempted Theocracy
It baffles the mind. Opposition to marriage equality hinges on biblical interpretation, and nothing else. It is impossible to debate the merits of marriage equality with those who stand in opposition without them relying on their bible. How is their even a public discussion on writing Theonomic Laws into our system of governance?

The debate needs to be shut down, once and for all, that separation of church and state prohibits biblical readings from shaping law.

When the biblical angle is used(which is all that is used), we give credence to proponents of Sharia Law or other Theocracies. Of course, we know that it is really just bigotry hiding behind bibles, nonetheless, we should force the debate to occur in a purely political frame. No religious discussion should be allowed to enter the debate, it is about equality.

2. I heard a blurb on CNN yesterday...
About the RNC token mouthpiece appealing to the monetary repurcussions. Of course, the argument was beyond lame. Here it is:

"Now all of a sudden I've got someone who wasn't a spouse before, that I had no responsibility for, who is now getting claimed as a spouse that I now have financial responsibility for," Steele told Republicans at the state convention in traditionally conservative Georgia. "So how do I pay for that? Who pays for that? You just cost me money."

(Like people don't SUDDENLY "find" themselves married every friggin' day.) :eyes:
