A law is meaningless if it is not enforced.

So abortion is banned? How would you enforce it? You would need a hell of a lot more government snooping and heavy-handed tactics to make sure that abortions do not happen. Who goes to jail? The doctor? The woman? The parents of the 16 year old girl who paid for the abortion? The boyfriend or husband who drove their girlfriend or wife to the clinic? And what would you do if juries in certain blue parts of this country use jury nullification to simply refuse to convict a defendant who is charged with the "crime" of abortion?

Oh, also, what about pregnant women who travel to a foreign country to have the procedure done? Will they have their passports yanked?

1. They'll have to consult with the Taliban on that.

2. Pregnancy tests at the boarding gate?
I don't THINK so.

If these lunatics get their way, it will be the nightmare women faced pre Roe vs. Wade: if you're wealthy, travel to a civilized country. If you're poor or working class, risk your life with an amateur who charges at least double what clinics today charge.

Emergency rooms will see a flood of butchered and bleeding women, not all of whom will leave with their lives because they were too frightened of a stupid law to come in and get treatment in time.

Others won't go at all and die alone and in agony, the mattress soaked completely through with their blood.

Lunatics and their patriarchal laws will never stop abortion. They will only stop the safe ones.

3. They can follow El Salvador's lead.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/09/magazine/09abortion.html

Highlights: keeping women with tubal pregnancies in hospital and waiting for their fallopian tubes to rupture (life threatening) to operate in order to avoid killing a doomed fetus and "forensic gynecologists" to inspect a woman's uterus after a suspicious miscarriage.

5. They're doing it right now, threatening doctors' lives constantly, intimidating women at clinics, sh
shutting down clinics with fear tactics.

Soldier’s wife, nurse arrested for arbortion

By ZWELAKHE MOAHLOLI on May 15,2009

MANZINI – A soldier’s wife and a nurse were on Wednesday arrested for committing abortion.

It is said the nurse, who is also referred to as a doctor operates from her house, situated at Malindza.
The nurse, *Ruth is said to have given her client *Futhi some tablets to take. It is still not known where the foetus was dumped by the suspects.

The pregnancy’s period could not be ascertained.

Abortion is illegal in the country as per the national constitution, Section 15 subsection five.

A source close to the matter said some of Futhi’s colleagues at a supermarket where she worked became suspicious when she returned slimmer, the next day.

The source said: “The reason she gave for terminating the pregnancy was that she was afraid her husband would kill her because he was not responsible. In a nutshell, she cheated on her husband.”
