made this old lady proud.

She made a mistake years ago, got caught up in the moment I suspect, and she has been trashed ever since. After all that bush has done and said to and about his own country, Jane's errors are nothing, might throw in Clinton's errors in this forgiveness thing.

No, impeachment is not off the table.

1 in 3 homeless are military vets
1 in 4 have ptsd w/2-3 month wait for any help
over 53,000 are wounded
1 doc for every 500 patients
male vets have twice unemployment rate
32% are Natl Guards serving at war
95% are having problems getting pay
many are sent back w/depression and mental disorders
over 200 have committed suicide
72% divorce rate for returning
65 billion dollars in benefits over next 5 years w/be required

Nothing about this mentioned in SOTU or by candidates.

The war is being fought here in the hearts and minds of those returning!!!

116. actually, it was probably those damn campaign handlers
that caused some of the problems. I've learned much more about Gore recently than I did in 2000.

If he runs again, he needs to dump the campaign handlers; he and Tipper are wonderful just the way they are, and campaign handlers should stay out of their way.

Okay, to be fair, he may have amped up his rhetoric. But I don't believe he as changed significantly.

You may not have "seen" the same person in 2000, but there could be many reasons for that.

109. CSM: US senators feel weight of Iraq vote

US senators feel weight of Iraq vote
The Democratic-controlled Congress must decide if resolutions opposing Bush's war strategy will be stern ... or bipartisan.

By Gail Russell Chaddock | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor

WASHINGTON - Back in 1971, Vietnam veteran John Kerry gave a face to the antiwar movement with a single question in televised testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

This week, Senator Kerry reprised the argument before the same panel: "How many of you here at this table believe what's happening is a mistake today?" he asked, as the Foreign Relations Committee took the first congressional step opposing the strategy in Iraq since lawmakers authorized the use of force in 2002.
In the Monitor
Friday, 01/26/07
............
In the end, 12 senators – all the Democrats on the panel plus one Republican, Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska – backed a non-binding resolution opposing President Bush's "new way forward" in Iraq. The vote came 16 hours after Mr. Bush appealed to lawmakers, in his State of the Union address, to give his plan to add 21,500 US troops to the forces fighting in Iraq "a chance to work."

As the resolution moves to the full Senate next week, it's clear that deep disagreements exist within each party over how best to express doubts about the Iraq war. The result is a vivid – and very public – grappling over the terms of their disagreement.

At issue is whether the new Democrat-controlled Congress should aim for the strongest resolution opposing the troop buildup, or the one most likely to draw the largest bipartisan vote.

113. ......House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the main political target.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0126/p01s01-ussc.html?s=itm

From the January 26, 2007 edition

Antiwar protesters target Congress
Organizers expect more than 300,000 people to converge in Washington this weekend seeking more than resolutions.
By Brad Knickerbocker | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor

......House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the main political target. War protesters want something tougher than nonbinding resolutions opposing the "surge" in additional US forces. Some want hearings on the controversial basis for the war itself, perhaps leading to the impeachment of President Bush.

It's not just the nation's capital, where busloads of people from at least 30 states are headed to make their voices heard.

Around the country, lawmakers' district offices are feeling the heat as well through Quakers' peaceful "vigils" and the occasional act of civil disobedience. In one recent case, the Episcopal bishop of northern California was arrested for blocking the door of the federal office building in San Francisco. And marches and rallies are planned in other cities, including Orlando, Fla., Seattle, San Diego, and Newark, N.J.

Major organizations are working to ensure that events do not include fringe groups and speakers, such as anarchists or socialists. Until recently, "people on the far left got control of the agenda and it became marginalized, even though the sentiment in the country increasingly became antiwar," says one organizer, who wished to remain anonymous. These days, such events feature labor union members, environmentalists, and especially active duty military people, says this source.

122. WaPo has "Tens of Thousands"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/27/AR2007012700629.html

Tens of thousands of demonstrators from across the country converged on the Mall in Washington today to urge the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq as President Bush is proposing to send more troops in an effort to stabilize the country.

The event, organized by the group United for Peace and Justice, appeared to draw fewer than the 100,000 people that authorities had said might come. It began with a rally at 11 a.m. and was followed by a march around the Capitol.
