Common Sense from Neil Cavuto on the "Democrat Socialist Party".
I normally can't stand Cavuto, but at least he's right about this one thing.

What's in a Political Name? by Neil Cavuto
(foxnews.com, May 19, 2009)

Calling your enemy names doesn't make them any less of an enemy. It risks making you more of a clown for trying. You're free to call them what you want, and to call them on the socialist issues you fear. Simply slapping a name or label on it doesn't change things. You coming up with substantive alternatives does.

Look, parties are bigger than labels. I believe, in time, they're better defined, not by their temper, but their tone. And again, I’m sorry, — this is just me — the tone here is just plain wrong for the times.

It seems strange to associate Cavuto (or any Foxcritter) with "common sense", but there you are.

1. He KNOWS his party will look like a pack of circus clowns if they do this. Personally, I hope
they do it because the backlash will be a thing of beauty to watch.

3. Conciliatory is the new black.

Even Fox has to pretend to be reasonable, 'cause Obama makes it look cool.

You'll notice, of course, that here Cavuto is wasting airtime in hand-wringing over what to call the Democrats. A sensible, professional person would have reached the same conclusion off-camera.

6. There's no common sense there whatsoever!
Why do I say that?

"Calling your enemy names doesn't make them any less of an enemy..."

He's calling other Americans his enemy.
We are not the enemy.
We are citizens and taxpayers just like him.
To call other citizens "the enemy" is NOT common sense.

7. The Parallel Universe In Eclipse
It's all the right wing has going for it these days...hot air and rhetoric. This corrupt party has lived in its own world for 20 years...with Raygun on horseback and hate radio as their pied pipers. Many who are in this world have defied reality for years and are hellbent to stay that way. When they get their way, that's the "natural order of things", when it doesn't, it was someone elses fault.

It has appeared the GOOP has reveled in their losses...a time to "cleanse" their party of the "non-believers"...a game that has helped alienate them further and further from the "middle" of the American electorate and from any real power. Some, like Rushbo, love this power vaccuum to puff up his ego and settle scores. The bloodletting has been vicious on their side with the circular firing squads lining up on a regular basis.

As many here will remember, it wasn't long ago Democrats were in a similar situation. Many of us got sick of losing elections and demanded change in the party...and got the 50 state strategy. The rushpublicans are doing the opposite...going for a 10 state strategy now...and shrinking.

Ya figger Cavuto lives in NYC and isn't able to always exist in the wingnut bubble. He goes shopping or to parties and has to be hearing all the laughter directed at both the rushpublicans and faux. Call this a rare moment of clairty, but one that works counter to the egos and political advantage of his bosses. Don't worry, good ole Neil will be back in true teabagging form later today.
