If Gitmo Prisoners Were In U.S. They Would Be Visited By Their Compatriots........
Edited on Wed May-20-09 02:20 PM by global1
now it seems to me that this would be a good way of flushing out other terrorists in the U.S.

Let them come and visit the Gitmo prisoners when they're put in a U.S. prison - then - make these visitors lives hell by investigating them, bugging them, following them. Sounds like a good way to expose their network in the U.S. if they are here. It's a hell of a lot better than torturing the prisoners to give this info up. Let them come to us.

If we keep these prisoners at Gitmo - there will never be a way to get this info.

Also - the objection that these Gitmo prisoners would influence others in the U.S. prisons. B.S. - they can isolate these Gitmo prisoners so that they have no contact with others.

Come on - all of this is a smoke screen.

The pols in D.C. are just worried that when they are running for re-election that their opponents can use this against them - that they put our country in danger by letting these Gitmo prisoners in the U.S.

Is this a rope-a-dope by Obama again to find out what all the objections are and to put a plan together that overcomes their objections? You know lets get them to expend all their objections - then - show that the plan is so good that they look silly.

1. If these Gitmo prisoners are such supermen, how did they become prisoners in the first place?

I mean, aside from being turned in by locals looking for a quick buck?

5. Supermen or Bogeymen?
“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” H.L. Mencken

2. I don't think prisoners have the right to private visits, so...
This would be one instance where we can legally wiretap without a warrant and maybe catch some terrorists doing so.

3. Most of these people were poor people barely scratching out a living.
I doubt they know anyone who could afford to travel here.

6. Why do you believe these people are terrorists?
If they are indeed terrorists they should be charged with such and tried in a court of law, whether military tribunal or civilian court of law, but at least charged and tried. If they are not charged it probably is becuase there is no evidence indicating they are indeed terrorists and should be let free. That is how America is supposed to work. Granted it hasn't since Republicans became rulers. Republicans Rule while Democrats Govern.

7. I agree that this is all a "smoke screen"
It is all about the Republicans trying to find another "issue" to get people riled up against Obama and to scare the Congressional Dems into fighting Obama over it.

As to your other point, this may well be another "rope-a-dope" or "trial balloon" by Obama to see how everybody (re-)acts before he actually acts, hence the current absence of the plan. It could just be a carefully choreographed "Kubuki Theater" by the Dems and Obama to "play" the Repubs. Who knows?
