Poll: Majority think GOP proposals are bad for the country
@ 4:52 pm by Jeremy P. Jacobs

A majority of Americans think that policies proposed by congressional Republicans would move the country in the wrong direction, according to a new poll.

The CNN/Opinion Research Poll released Wednesday found that 53 said proposals by House and Senate Republicans would have a negative effect on the country. Just less than four in 10 said the proposals would have a positive effect.

The poll found the reverse for Democrats. A majority - 57 percent - said policies proposed by congressional Democrats would move the country in the right direction. Four in ten thought they would move the country in the wrong direction.

President Obama's policies received the highest marks in the survey. More than six in 10 said his policy proposals are good for the country, while about a third said they are bad for it.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
