Poll question: Iraq Invasion |
|
My impression is that Iraq was part of the whole 'war on terror' idea from the very beginning of the Bush error administration, and that they were looking high and low for any reason to invade Iraq.
And that the aftermath from 9/11 gave them the opportunity to gin up the "Iraq has WMD" thereby coercing the frightened public to go along with the invasion.

1. They way I remember it, by the time August Six rolled along, |
|
it was common knowledge that we were going to be hit by somebody other than Iraq. But the neocons had to have Iraq, so they took it.

2. The invasion of Iraq was the goal. The 'war on terror' was the claimed justification. |

It was used initially, but then it was further emphasized after the WMD 'disappeared'.

4. Bingo , some of us even said /knew that we |
|
would be at war in Iraq and Iran and said so publicly as far back as 1998. I had friends that have since asked how I knew, I said remember that copy of PNAC manifesto I gave you? Did you even read it? You would have known if you had. We went into Afghanistan for the oil pipeline as much as the opium supply for the DEA distribution network too.

8. Good for you spreading the word so early on. I didn't read PNAC |
|
until after 9/11 and when I did, I was stunned at how it was playing out before my eyes. And the list of signatories was quite an eye opener too.

The iraq invasion was the goal - the war on terror was the afterthought.

7. Other: 9/11 inside job staged to bolster support for PNAC plans... |
|
...which obviously included establishing a military foothold in Iraq, along with securing their resources.
