Dick Cheney: Nothing is More Consistent with American Values than Torture
By: Blue Texan Thursday May 21, 2009 10:30 am

From Dick Cheney's remarks at AEI this morning:

Critics of our policies are given to lecturing on the theme of being consistent with American values. But no moral value held dear by the American people obliges public servants ever to sacrifice innocent lives to spare a captured terrorist from unpleasant things. And when an entire population is targeted by a terror network, nothing is more consistent with American values than to stop them.

Anything is permissible in defense of the {Fatherland} Homeland.

Harry Truman, 1950.

I know that it would be easier to catch and jail criminals if we did not have a Bill of Rights in our Federal and State constitutions. But I thank God every day that it is there, that that Bill of Rights is a fundamental law. That is what distinguishes us from the totalitarian powers.

This seems to be lost on the former Vice President.

1. I think Cheney is playing a game of "chicken" with Obama
Cheney's willing to stay in the car no matter what, even after it goes off the cliff, just so that people will say he won.

3. And yet, it was "EVIL" when Saddam Hussein did it. It was "EVIL" when that Texas

sheriff (serving 10 years for the torture crime of waterboarding) did it.

It was "EVIL" when Japanese officers (executed by the US for the war crime of) waterboarded US troops.

HINT: if it's EVIL when they do it, it's EVIL when we do it.

And it's WORSE when we do it and slaughter others who did the same.

FACT.

4. I think when those photos are finally released....
Americans are going to be completely disgusted with Cheney and the CIA. It's going to be ten time the reaction to Abu Ghraib. They know it's coming and they are just doing pre-damage control.

7. Cheney is still trying to close the barn door after 9/11. Probably
will for the rest of his life. It's absolutely pathetic already. He'd be better off just apologizing for being inept and letting it happen on his watch & moving on, instead of more of this meaningless crap.

10. Yes he is his own worst enemy right now.
An apology and or being quiet would be much smarter
for him.

8. The media is complicit and is attempting to overpower the truth with the false
narrative, and with such a delightful and motivated front-man. But, for not succeeding, else they all swing together.
