I thought his Bob Boudelang character was pretty lame and lacking in any humor or creativity... he had the right idea, but didn't have the imagination to pull it off.

What I was very amused by was the real Mr. Benchly with his hair trigger temper and repetitive insults and catch phrases.
He was like a tourettes sufferer laced up on cheap whiskey and amphetamines.

21. I remember Benchley

He was no Walt Starr. I think I remember a debating style that was lots of one line insults or sarcastic questions. I never cared for the Boudelang column either. I think I read about half of one once. One funny memory was when somebody (was it BenBurch? Trumad?) posted in the lounge looking for MrBenchley saying "you have your PM shut off". After about 15 posts in the thread, MrBenchley posted "I don't have my PM shut off, you doofus, you have me on ignore again." Some of the loungers got a kick out of that, posting in the thread "hey, did you ever find MrBenchley?"

24. I miss Ben. He was a tireless defender of Andy and of me

and others when the creeps were doing their best to tank us. He was great.
