I need a valid list of people who died because they were denied care by a health insurer.

Anyone know of such a list or how to go about compiling one? Ideally it should include details such as the insurance company that denied the care. Pictures of the patients would be great but that may be asking for too much.

WESTWOOD (KTLA)--Attorney Mark Geragos says he plans to file a lawsuit on behalf of the family of a 17-year-old girl who died just hours after her health insurer agreed to pay for a liver transplant.

The parents of Nataline Sarkisyan removed her from life support Thursday.

"Now we have to start the healing process to try to figure out what happened and why it happened," said a friend of the family.

Nataline had been in a vegetative state for three weeks, her mother Hilda Sarkisyan told the Daily News.

CIGNA initially declined to pay for the transplant for Nataline because her plan did not cover "experimental, investigational and unproven services," her doctors said.

The denial prompted a rally by Armenians outside CIGNA's Glendale offices attended by a crowd estimated by organizers at 150. Hundreds of telephone callers also clogged lines at CIGNA offices around the nation today on Nataline's behalf, organizers said.

but then had to fight to get them to pay for it, which they eventually did. While her case is a compelling example of the callous actions of insurance companies, I'm not sure that it's a good example of what I'm looking for.

is proof that it is far more beholden to the corporate powers than to the human citizens.

Think of all the resources they spend trying to stop music or software piracy or protect pharmaceuticals from foreign competition.
The fact that medical insurers often try to deny medical care without justification is well-known, but is there any federal effort to track or quantify it? Of course not.

You can read all about how the for-profit system murdered a very close friend here, although you have only my word to verify that this sick, sorry episode did actually occur just as I've written it up here.

But if you think about it, given how this state-sanctioned murder machine actually works, who it's designed to serve and who it's designed to cull from the herd -- why would anyone really find this such a stretch? A better question would be, "Why haven't they managed to kill off the rest of us yet? Gawd knows they're trying hard enough."

20. Why don't you put up a blog asking people to reply to your question?

You may need to ask them for sources to verify their accounts. Then post links to the blog anywhere you can like here, face book, twitter, anywhere you can post a brief explanation and place a link.

On edit another thought. Michael Moore I know compiled scads of stories like those that he didn't use in his movie "Sicko". Maybe if you ask him he might share them. Nothing to lose here even if he ignores you. Also, the Physicians for a National Health Plan (www.pnhp.org) have been gathering stories like that for over a decade. Maybe they too might share if you ask.
