I don't mind the fact the our presidents are IVY LEAGUE graduates, because as Obama, Bill Clinton and Sotomayor have demonstrated anyone who has show demonstrated that they are the best and brightest can get a shot at an Ivy League education.

Sine the barriers to an Ivy League education are coming down, I don't mind that our presidents come from Ivy League colleges, especially because even folks who go to public or lesser acclaimed under graduate programs can attend graduate school at Ivy League institutions provided they have shown themselves to be the best and the brightest.

Obama fought his way up from humble beginnings and that's to be celebrated but there can be no doubt that poverty can be an impossible hurdle to overcome for many if not most.

5. the idea of true equality and the prospect of its realization is so wonderful!!

but the old white men aren't going to give up so easily. nor are the other people out there who fear true equality. some of them want some to be more equal than others. as a 36 year old white woman who has never really had to go through what minorities have had to struggle with, I hope we can get to that place where no matter gender, sexuality, race, creed or whatever else... we can all have the opportunity to be whatever we want as long as we work hard.

. . . we need the talent and dedication offered from all quarters of our nation to help us grow (and evolve). I have seen a great deal of change preceded by the enlightened and progressive minds of our children, well before 'old men' were persuaded to bend to accept those changes. We'll keep working, because our challenges compel our disparate interests to unite to prevent us from isolating ourselves (and our causes and concerns) into obscurity.
