Doesn't Franken's non-seating just make a total mockery of our electoral system?

How is this not a huge thing - the people have spoken, we have a Democratic senator duly elected - yet it is being held up due to - what - legalese? Shouldn't this essentially invalidate the system we use to elect our representatives?

And what would be happening if the shoe was on the other foot?

Unauditable electronic ballot devices which cannot be recounted makes a mockery. In the Franken case, the laws of Minnesota allow these delays in a close and contested race. The legal process has not yet run its course. The people of Minnesota should change their laws though to speed up this process.

As for if the shoe was on the other foot, with Coleman having a slight lead, you know there would be tea parties and Repuke Senators pledging allegiance on the Capitol steps, etc.

13. Our whole election system has been mocked since the Supreme Court

gave the Presidency to George W. Bush. This is another affront to it. It only proves that elections are allowed as a palliative to the citizens who think they are democratically electing their representatives but it seems to be far from the truth after election after election is compromised when the real ruling party don't get the results they want. They did it to us in 2000. They gave us Arnold after we had elected Davis in California. Now they are going to try to strip Al Franken of his rightful seat in the Senate.
