Sooo, Wachovia/Wells Fargo is going into the health benefits
business.... What is wrong with this picture? Received a call from a telemarketer who said he was from Wachovia (did not mention Wells Fargo) and thanked me for being a good customer. Then proceeded to tell me they were mailing me information about health benefits that will be made available to me in the near future. He then said I would have to pay $1 to receive this information.

Whoa Nellie. DO NOT deduct $1 from my account for this "much needed info", DO NOT send me the info at all, thank you very much, and I will be the decider in what health benefits I require.... Poor thing, I thanked him for calling and hung up. I wasn't snarky to him, at least he has a job. WTH is going on with banks now pushing health and life insurance??? I'm always getting literature from Wachovia on life insurance....And BTW, I wish the phone calls would stop advising me that the costs of funerals, at a minimum, are at least $7,000. They know something I don't???

Is this going on elsewhere or just here in Florida?

1. Sounds like a scam...
I can't imagine Wells telling valued customers that they will be charged $1 for information.

Sounds like someone was trying to get you to agree, so they could then "go over" your account
information and get you to reveal account numbers, pin numbers, etc.

This sounds like a complete farce to me. I don't think it was a legit call from WF, but I could
be wrong.

2. Ya know, you're right...I'm going to e-mail Wachovia right now. They
do have excellent customer service. Glad I hung up when I did. I'm so happy about our new Supreme Court pick and in a good mood, I was much too easy on this guy....LOL..

3. That's the result of the repeal of Glass-Steagall in 1999. Up till then, the
insurance, banking, and stock trader industries were separate and regulated.
