Anybody got any good ideas for a prank on these Phelps people? They are protesting a Jewish community center but they don't know that also there are shot putters, construction guys and a dog park right there too.

The BEST course of action would be to ignore them.

So there are lots of people around being pleasant to each other. Totally ignore the Phelps wack jobs. You'd need to be sure to brief all the attendees at your event so they do not react to the church idiots. Also be prepared to call in the cops if the Phelps group tries to invade your event.

"Shunning" is an old Biblical/Christian punishment, it is appropriate for these wackos.

radio programs with Phelps family on. People did in fact call in and out Bible them. They ended up trying to defend themselves. They consider themselves experts in the bible and strict followers of every word in the bible. It's not very hard to get them on the defensive because they do know the bible passages they violate and don't like it when people remind them of those passages.

When I had the horrible displeasure of being around Phelps and his crew of bigots, I was there in a professional capacity and couldn't speak up.

That was a good thing. You know why? That is exactly what they want and the entire motivation for why they crisscross the country with their hatefest.

You see, it's how they pay the bills. They want to be harrassed. They want someone to get pissed off and push them or rip up one of their signs. Then they get to sue that person and they also get to sue the local municipalities for not protecting their civil rights. It' their MO. Their con.

So, don't give them what they want. The best thing you can do is write a LTTE, pass on this info, and ask that everyone just completely avoid that area for the day. (if possible.)

The other possibility is to gather some friends and make some costumes like these:



A silent protest of an army of angels was first used when these foul bigots showed up at Matthew Shephard's funeral. They were also present at the protest I was at and it was a beautiful sight to behold.

They don their angel costumes, form a line around Phelps and his ilk and their signs and stand in silent protest.

At the event that I was at, I tried to talk to one of the angels and they would not speak. It really was so moving and still brings tears to my eyes.

Anyway, when I see posts on DU about this horrible man, I can't help but share my experience. Hope that you can get something from it and that I didn't go on too much....O8) O8) O8) O8) O8) O8) O8)

They were supposed to protest a soldier's funeral near my house a couple of years ago, but they never showed up. I told the family how to contact the Patriot Guard Riders and they showed up, too. The Phelps Inbreed Klan don't always show up when and where they *say* they're going to...
