In response to President Obama’s nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace Justice Souter, the people who speak for the GOP decided to follow the example of the KKK and NeoNazi Parties, which have recently targeted Hispanic-Americans in order to recruit new members. Those who have followed the anti-Hispanic debate will recognize the stereotypes.

No, today’s ugly spectacle was not staged in order to pander to the base. The redneck rhetoric was for the benefit of business owners who have discovered that Hispanics make great employees. They can pay them subsistence wages---and withhold even that pittance, if they feel like it. They can force them to work in unsafe conditions. If the employees complain, they can threaten them with INS.
