Just when things look gloomy, there was a baptism of a child of a lesbian
Edited on Thu May-28-09 08:20 PM by rasputin1952
couple here in my town in Nebraska.

So here I am in Northeast NE, and I talk to my Voc Rehab caseworker, and she tells me that her church performed the baptism of a baby girl this past week. The parents are a lesbian couple.

I went over to the church, (which is just around the corner from me), and talked to the pastor. When I first mentioned the baptism, the pastor she looked a little oddly at me, (she had NO idea who I was), and I said, "That is outstanding. Thank you".

As a bonus, I mentioned DU, and she said she would check it out...:woohoo:

5. They're the ones with the cool commercials.
Those PSAs hit exactly the right tone, imho.

8. I recall those, although not with great clarity...
It's not like I stop everything to see a religious commercial...;)

I did ask the preacher if it was true they were slightly leaning liberal, she told me, "We lean WAY liberal"...good enough for me...:D

7. Cool, Critters2 is a UCC minister
although it could have been a liberal parish of the Lutheran, Episcopal, or Methodist flavor.

9. Cool...I see lots of youngsters over there from time to time...
and the place seems "alive" as opposed to what I'm used to in churches, (brought up a Lutheran, Missouri Synod). I haven't gone to church in a long time because I see far too much condemnation as opposed to caring and forgiveness. I think I'll give this one a try and see what's up...:D
