Charlize Theron coming to Fresno for same sex marriage rally -- Is Drew Barrymore?
It's confirmed: Oscar winner Charlize Theron will be in Fresno Saturday for the pro-same sex marriage march and rally. Our hand is about to pull the official "Stop the Presses" lever for this headline: "Oscar Winner Goes To Fresno." It's part of the effort we told you about the other day to take the marriage movement to parts of California that voted overwhelmingly for Prop 8. Charlize has a history of socially conscious work, contributing to international charities and organizations that deal with violence against women.
And more stars could be on the way to American's breadbasket. Our sources in Fresno tell us that Drew Barrymore and "Will and Grace" co-star Eric McCormack also are mulling a visit to the Valley for Saturday's Meet in the Middle for Equality gig. Nothing confirmed yet, but stay tuned.
Here's what Charlize said in her note to members of the Courage Campaign Thursday:
We need to meet. All of us. At 1 p.m. this Saturday, May 30.
In Fresno, the heartland of California.
Four days after the state Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, thousands of people organized by more than 100 organizations are coming together in a major event unlike any other in the post-Prop 8 era.
We know the people whose lives are on the line -- those who identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender -- will be there. But we need everyone there.
Especially straight people.
Everyone.
