How to make the congress and senate represent the people.

I'm of the opinion that our nations leaders should be encouraged to more accurately represent its constituents. To that end...I think that all persons in the congress should have to put any private financial interests in a blind trust much like the federal reserve chairman has to do. This would take away any motivation toward legislating toward ones self interest.
