We hear that GOP risk alienating hispanics. But we don't hear about the risk of alienating WOMEN

Sonia Sotomayor is a Latina, but she is a WOMAN as well. I am sure that many of the women who have read or heard or watched the smears of Sotomayor from the far right were really pissed off regardless of their race.

In fact, Sotomayor's net approval among men is 17%, but 41% among women, according to a Quinnipiac poll released today. Do the math:

Men: Approve 48%, Disapprove 31%
Women: Approve 59%, Disapprove 18%

What about blacks? Isn't the GOP alienating African Americans by calling Sotomayor AND the first African American President "reverse racists?" You don't hear that either. Isn't the GOP alienating blacks by trashing a woman who sided with a mostly black group of firefighters in the now-famous New Haven case?

You might claim that the black vote is highly Democratic anyway; but can the GOP afford not to diminish the degree of black support towards the Democrats in the future? Do they want their current unpopularity among blacks to remain forever?

White women are not stupid either. They know a sexist when they see one. Women in general are very intelligent people.

The media should stop pretending that in this nation each group cares about itself exclusively.

and will vote the way their husband votes, anyway.

2. A lot of women are pretty alienated from the GOP anyhow

except maybe for some fundies and Palinites and the few remaining PUMAs. But the mind-bogglingly sexist comment by convicted felon G. Gordon Liddy might help alienate even some of them.

Aren't you talking about republicans in the poll?

Because according to the link, The Sotomayor nomination wins support from Democrats 81 - 3 percent and independent voters 50 - 26 percent, while Republicans oppose it 46 - 26 percent, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University survey finds.

Men approve of the nomination 48 - 31 percent while women approve 59 - 18 percent.
