1. Whew! At least it's not opposite marriage!

2. Wonder what would be thought about this if
it centered around a woman having several husbands. Which would make more sense if the idea is to propagate the faith or to have several children. That would be kinda an interesting religion to join, don't ya think? Maybe not the propagating the faith part as childbirth is a bit hard on the body... but this polygamy as it stands now is not really about that either.

I am thinking heads would explode at my blasphemy. :P

3. Paint Your Wagon,
the old musical, was about a woman who had two husbands. Clint Eastwood, of all people, starred in the movie, even though he was terribly miscast.

4. There is also a Noel Coward play 'Design for Living'
that plays with the idea. But other than those two examples, polygamy is only considered to be a male-centered thing. Ah, such is patriarchy I guess.

6. Polyamory
It's not my religion, just my life.

Two husbands, a boyfriend, a kiddo and a dog. No, I'm not married to the kiddo or the dog, of course, that would be wrong.

And no, my husbands are not chattel, they have girlfriends too.

7. Well I learned something new.
I had no idea there was such a thing. It appears much more emotionally healthy compared to the polygamy espoused by the above vid - but what doesn't? :P

8. Honestly, it's only as healthy as the people involved
Poly folks divorce rate is about the same as the national average, though if there are big problems, the usually come to light more quickly - many eyes mean many mirrors. I've been poly since the early 90s and been in my share of screwed up situations. I'm feeling quite settled and happy now. I would love to have a co-wife but so far, that doesn't seem to be in the cards though I've had two situations in the past where that was part of my life. As a matter of fact, my son is my stepson and his mother used to be with us (she left us, unfortunately. She's now a weekend mom.)
