A cute reminder that no matter how much overlap there is between black folks' civil rights struggle, and other groups'; and no matter how often other groups use black folks' civil rights struggles as a stepping ladder for their own, black fols will NEVER be considered anything remotely close to "normal", i.e., white.

Sigh.

"Hispanic polls, Hispanic surveys, indicate that Hispanics think just like everyone else. We’re not like African-Americans. We think just like everybody else. When I was on the leader’s staff, someone called me once and asked me: ‘What’s Senator Frist’s Hispanic agenda?’ I said, ‘low taxes, better education, more jobs … what are you talking about?’ And that’s how Hispanics are. This is an opportunity to educate them on all of our issues and they will resonate in the way that they resonate with everyone else."

EDIT: Grammatical errors.

1. Ridiculous isn't it
We will always be considered "exotic" or "other" in this country - regardless of the strides and progress made. Perhaps when everyone is so mixed up that you can't tell the difference it will get better.

6. Yes, I'm aware that it's possible to translate English into Spanish...
My question was aimed at: do hispanic folks use that term (en espanol) to refer to other hispanic folks whom they feel have sold them out for the purpose of sucking up to powerful white folks?

and can connect to world literature.

Even if this imbecile, Miranda, cannot.

I remember discussing this work in high school, in Mexico.

And immediately made the connection.

PS: the term used by Hispanics is coconut (brown on the outside...)
