So, what are the odds on Rove just pleading the 5th?
Or, would pleading the 5th leave him too open to indictment?

1. Fitz strikes me as a guy who would never call a witness unless he knew exactly

what was going to be said.

SO, let's all hope for the worst! (for Rover)

I hope he rats out Dick and tries to save his own worthless ass!The trend is in that direction!

4. zero, what Rove said to reporters is not the issue, its what he said to Libby
and that's not a crime. You only get 5th Amendment protection from crimes.

5. Depends on what he says on the stand
Here's where an attorney of Fitz's caliber can be a thing to behold:

Rove was called by the defense, but Fitz gets to cross-examine. Cross examination is limited to the matters raised in direct examination. But if Rove makes a large enough slip, he may "open the door" to other lines of questioning. The ability to identify and exploit such openings is the hallmark of a great litigator.

If Rove says something on direct that allows Fitz to go into the whole soap opera of Rove's trips to the grand jury, then Rove will have no choice but to answer -- and my guess is, having once opened his mouth on direct examination, he can't claim the 5th on cross examination.

6. But, if he perjured himself before, therein may lie the crime.
And, the reason for him to cover his ass.

This should all be pretty interesting.
