Lorry bomb kills children in school

A newborn baby was one of at least 14 children and adults killed when a suicide bomber detonated a lorry laden with explosives close to a primary school in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk yesterday.

The latest massacre of Iraqi children came as 21 Shia market workers were ambushed, bound and shot dead north of the capital. The victims came from the Baghdad market visited the previous day by John McCain, the US presidential candidate, who said that an American security plan in the capital was starting to show signs of progress.

John McCain, you are an evil, shriveled excuse for a man. 21 people died as a result of your play-acting. Feel big now, asshole?

2. What the hell did they expect?
This is a failure at every level.

Even in SE Asia, we never allowed the politicos to do anything like that anywhere North of Saigon. Guaranteed death warrant for the people.

Stupid, selfish bastards.

5. McCain basically issued a death sentence upon those vendors
in the market where they decided to make their "purchases" in that ridiculous charade the other day - the "insurgents", or whoever, will view them as collaborators, and try to make an example of them to other Iraqis. All for his overriding ambition...makes me sick.

John reflects badly on Viet Nam POWs, fighter pilots, Naval Aviators, the US Senate, the state of Arizona, the USA, old gray farts (like me), etc., etc.!

8. I hate terrorists.
I've already been called a Bushbot once today and I no doubt will be again, but I can't just let this pass.

This was a murderer that killed those children. I can not marginalize what they did by blaming McCain and I'm shocked some would.

15. McCain should've known better.
You can't deny this if you know anything about what happens to people over there that mingle with Americans. They'll kill you for speaking English, for God's sake.

You may not want to admit it, but McCain helped put these people in harms way with his little parade.

12. Some men are capable of such prodigious feats of self-transformation!
I agree with the suggestion making the rounds that McCain has slipped into the early stages of dementia before anyone close to him noticed.

17. Bingo! Well said.
What's up with these McCain apologists? McCain AND Graham set the people in that market up! Swift retribution was as predictable as the sunrise over Baghdad.

And, while we are at it, let's clarify some terminology. If this is the war that Mr. Bu$h says it is, then those perpetrating these attacks are not "criminals" nor are they "terrorist." If we are fighting them, then they are, simply, enemy soldiers or operatives. Please drop the propaganda-inspired pejorative descriptions.

19. I have to disagree about calling them terrorists.
These people intentionally target innocent Iraqi's, innocent children, and do so with the absolutely deliberate intention of terrorizing people in order to meet an ultimate goal of gaining power through these methods. Terrorism is a form of policy (and especially foreign policy).

I've read stories where teenagers have been found dead with their eyes *drilled* out which is actually quite a common form of torture among these "terrorists."

If they just targeted McCain or our soldiers in general I wouldn't be calling them terrorists. In that case I would call them enemy soldiers, like you said.

23. Watch this video by Larry Johnson
His comments were after McCain's visit but before these killings. He xalled it before hand.

16. We obviously don't see the value in researching the other sides' methods of operation.
I think that before any elected American leaders open their mouths, they ought to discuss their statements with the soldiers on the ground so that they fully know and understand what the possible implications could be.

I'd be willing to bet that any soldier over there could have predicted an outcome like this based on McCain talking about progress for America.

I'm not saying that McCain should lie and say it all looks dreadful just to please the enemy. All I'm saying is where ruthless, cold-hearted, callous thugs are involved who intentionally make innocent children pay the ultimate price to make America look bad, there's no downside to being extra cautious prior to PR speeches. It's a matter of life and death for babies, apparently.

More lives destroyed for nothing. Nothing.

18. in my humble opinion
this was a rovian operation all the way. McCain has sold his soul. The transformation in him in the past year or so is profound. It could be that the early-stage dementia suggestion is a player - he certainly seems to have dumbed down - but the about-face on practically every position is just stunning. He is firmly in bed with the powers that be behind this administration, doing their bidding. This PR stunt was fully backed by the WH - you can count on it. All the security preparations and such had to be ordered. Now Petraeus - another "brownie" - says there were no special preparations???? I call BS!

McCain deserves to be shamed for doing the stunt, since it was clearly a propaganda ploy with no possible redeeming value, except to try to further the lies. But it should be pinned on its true authors as well.

Try to imagine - don't strain anything, I know this is going to be hard - if Pelosi had wanted to stroll through that market. If the army had even condescended to give her a broken-down humvee to drive herself there the outcry from bush, cheney, and all their puppets would be deafening.

No, johnny mac does not live there anymore. He's one of them - a pod person.
