Although Yusuf has been through many life changing experiences along the way, his familiar voice and songwriting is heard throughout this CD. www.yusufislam.com

Cat Stevens 'MOONSHADOW' Rumored To Hit
West End July 2009

Thursday, April 2, 2009; Posted: 03:04 PM - by BWW News Desk

WhatsOnStage is reporting that the Cat Stevens musical Moonshadow is expected to open in the West End later this year. The show was originally due to have a run at the Northampton Royal and Derngate this July but the venues were unavailable; the show will now jump straight into its West End run.

According to a spokesperson who spoke to Whatsonstage.com "It didn't make sense to mount a full production for one theatre and have an unknown gap before having to remount it for another theatre."

The plan now is to open in the West End this autumn, securing the right small to mid-sized venue this summer as the schedule for late 2009 starts to "shake out".

Moonshadow is written by Yusuf Islam (Stevens) and co-directed by Nicola Traherne and Swede Anders Albien.

The plot revolves around a young boy who leaves home on a journey of self-discovery, only to find himself arriving back home again.

Moonshadow features over 30 Cat Stevens' hits from the 1960s and 70s such as "Morning Has Broken", "Peace Train", "Father and Son", "Oh Very Young" and the song from which the show takes its title, as well as four songs in the production from his latest album, Road Singer, which will be re-released to coincide with the stage show reports WhatsOnStage.

9. we just weren't sure if it was:
intentionally funny
unintentionally funny
intentionally unfunny
unintentionally unfunny

I guess it was intentionally funny, but I suspect that Yusuf himself would have only reacted with a a silent glare.

10. I'll have to go with either choice 1 or choice 3
But you're probably right about Yusuf's reaction. I suspect that he'd throw me off of the peace train while it crossed a trestle...

3. One of my "holy trinity" of singer-songwriters.
the other two being Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, but I love Cat Stevens' songs and listen to them frequently. His 3 albums, "Mona Bone Jakon," "Tea for the Tillerman" and "Teaser and the Firecat" are all classics of the singer-songwriter era. Assorted songs from other albums are good too, but those are the 3 albums that really made him.

6. A perfect symbol of the Bush maladministration: demonizing the man
Who brought us the Peace Train.

8. I think this version he did in '07 is incredibly beautiful version
of Peace Train. I feel sad that we are still waiting 30 years later for that train to come. Maybe that's why I love this version. It's quiet and determined ...sort of like the times we face.
