Great example of the disingenuousness of Sarah Palin
Sorry if this has already been posted or talked about, I looked around but didn't notice this particular angle. Also it's my very first topic, so go easy on me. :p

Anyway, KO brought this up in his show but I noticed he sort of missed the real disingenuous nature of Palin's comment on the today show about what Barack Obama said on the campaign trail about families of candidates amid all her blathering on about "double standards".

WHAT SHE CLAIMED...(please watch video to see just how nasty her tone was, it just doesn't convey in print as it should)...

http://citizensagainstproobama...anscript

"Here’s the problem, Matt – the double standard that has been applied here. One, let’s talk politically, the double standard. First, remember in the campaign, Barack Obama said the family’s off-limits – you don’t talk about my family. And the candidate who must be obeyed – everybody adhered to that and left his family. They haven’t done that on the other side of the ticket, and it has continued to this day. So that’s a political double standard."

WHAT HE ACTUALLY SAID...

http://blogs.abcnews.com/polit...dia.html

"At a brief press availability in Monroe, Mich., ABC News asked Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., if he had any response to Gov. Sarah Palin's statement that her unmarried 17-year-old daughter Bristol is pregnant.

"Let me be a clear as possible: I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits," Obama said, "and people's children are especially off limits.

"This shouldn't be part of our politics," he continued, "It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor, or her potential performance as a vice president.

"And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories," he said. "You know my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and, you know, teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that's off limits.""

So basically, Barack Obama was protecting HER kid, and she throws it back in his face instead of graciously acknowledging it. Classy.

1. I think she overestimates her popularity.
She paraded her kids around and went on about family values ad nauseum. How could she think comedians wouldn't have a field day, with a pregnant daughter who's preachig abstinence?

(BTW, I was wondering why she was in TX during one interview I watched. Come to find out she';s selling the alaskan wilderness to Exxon Mobile. That will probably make her hugely popular in AK.)

Welcommen, bienvenue, come on in! :hi:

4. She possesses a politician's worst flaws
She is ignorant and arrogant. Too stupid to actually know anything and too vain to know what she doesn't know and just shut up.

26. She possesses a 15-year-old "Cliquey" high-school girl's worst flaws.
She's never matured past the "Heather" stage of adolescent development.

2. She's getting coaching
She can lie and spin like the best of the radio wingnuts.

Though I think her smugness may overtake any gains she makes in that department.

3. I was thinking the same thing
particularly with her vitriolic response about the President. She sounds SO angry.

Maybe she should take some advice from her former running mate, he's correct in saying that nobody likes an angry candidate much.

5. I think she has some form of personality disorder
maybe narcissistic, or borderline, like a lot of rwers

her life seems completely undisciplined, erratic and chaotic with a lot of projection/blame for others

she isn't that popular, which i think is why the M$$M uses her, as a big FU and a anti-cerebral whack over the head to the majority of people who voted for Obama.

They keep her and her nascent fascism alive as a threat .

17. At least some Histrionic combined with
the Narcissistic:

"Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive emotionality and attention-seeking, including an excessive need for approval and inappropriate seductiveness, usually beginning in early adulthood. These individuals are lively, dramatic, enthusiastic, and flirtatious. They may be inappropriately sexually provocative, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and be easily influenced by others."

6. Good point!
That actual quote from Obama first came about when he was defending her ass....what a twit. Plus, "the candidate who shall be obeyed"? Bitter much? The media didn't exactly leave his wife alone, and what negative stories are you going to write about 8 year olds? And I remember a lot of "He brought those kids to that church for 20 years" and calling them props when they did that interview with Extra(?). Yes, Obama just said "Family off limits!" and the press corps all bowed before him.

18. HE'S more interested in protecting the kids, SHE'S
just being an attention ho. I swear if she is really so upset about the the damn joke, she seems to want to make sure that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD HEARS IT TWICE AND THINKS IT PERTAINS TO HER 14 Y/O! It's so weird. What mother would do that? It's like when she outed Bristol's pregnancy when there were rumors about her own pregnancy, she's like "SEE? She can't be my kids mom cuz she's PREGNANT!" Hello? She could have just released her med records and not even gone there. She is CONSTANTLY using those kids and then complaining that other people are using them!

30. easy enough to find
The Palin quote is from an interview she did with Matt Lauer on the Today show, Monday June 15th I believe.

The other quote can be googled using "Obama comment Palin daughter" or something like that.

Sorry the links aren't working anymore.

That doesn't sound like motherly love to me. Sounds more like ambition and using her kids to get what she wants for herself.
