Please contact Air America Radio
It is rumored that Sam Seder may lose his show on Air America Radio - just heard a caller ask him about this and he didn't answer directly. My opinion is that it's one of the best shows they air and if you agree, please flood Air America Radio with emails and tell them to keep Sam on the air.

3. air america doesn't give a shit what we think..they canned Malloy
they trashed sam on the nighttime slot..they can't even be heard on the NYC stations unless you turn your radio up so loud to hear over static..they put ED Schultz on instead of Hartman ..i will not listen to the republican shultz..period the end..

AAR has destroyed themselves...the only ones left worth listening to now is sam and randi..and they fucked sam..i listened to him every night after Randi..now i shut it off after Randi..and i had xm put throughout my home ..so i can listen ..i choose not to..

I know we should support them..but i can not they lost me when they canned Mike Malloy

9. I agree with all your points, except Ed Schutz.
First of all Ed Schultz is NOT PART OF AAR, he is part of the Jones Radio Network, which Stephanie Miller is also part of

AAR did NOT put Ed Schultz on, that was XM radio which decided their own programming as far as I am aware

Your entitled to your views about Schultz, I will just respectfully disagree with you.

12. It is XM that chooses to air Ed Shultz in place of Thom Hartman, NOT AAR

4. Very stupid move on AAR. He is one of the few hosts that welcomes all ideas
I will write, but if management has their mind made up I doubt it will do much good

Maybe he could go over to the Jones Radio Network where Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, and others are

11. I think so - Stephanie is whupping him in the ratings -
Not too long ago I was searching for a station that I could stream when the New York station wasn't streaming for me. I searched AAR stations across the nation and the huge majority were playing Stephanie.

It makes sense if they want to move Sam back to evenings - he was developing a following after Garofalo left - he needed more time to settle in. I *really* looked forward to going home each evening and listening to him.

6. If Air America wants someone with less content on in the morning then
they should move Sam back to the evening where he will certainly get better ratings than their current evening line-up. I just haven't listened in the evenings since Majority Report was removed from the schedule. I like David Bender - who is on after Rachel Maddow - well enough to listen to him on the weekends, but I don't like him well enough to listen to him every evening. I WANT SAM!

My other idea - put Sam and Marc Maron on in the mornings - smart & funny - they would make a great early morning wake-up team. I haven't listened in the morning since Marc & Mark were pulled.

13. I stopped listening in the early morning (6-9), I still listen to Sam from 9-12...
when I can. Sam is now on during work time and I can't always have the radio on and get done what I need to do. I don't listen to Stephanie Miller from 9-12.

If they moved Sam back to evenings I would LOVE it.

15. Don't they see that the original programming was great?
Marc Marron in the morning. Randi in the afternoon. Sam in the evening. Malloy for the late night.

They've screwed around with everything.

Now they're punishing Sam again, and the listeners and fans be damned.

Sure seems like someone in AAR doesn't have their priorities straight. Progressive Radio shouldn't be turning away interesting, entertaining and thoughtful TRULY progressive hosts.

I think Nova AM has the better idea.

17. It's about ratings. We may not like that fact, but that's the truth.
Randi gets great ratings, which is why she's staying put.

14. WHEN are we ever going to get a truly LIBERAL radio network?
Edited on Fri Apr-06-07 10:15 AM by loudsue
One that doesn't keep marginalizing all of the best and brightest liberal voices? And one that is covered in EVERY market, like limpballs and some of the other rightwing slimeballs?

Is that too friggin' much to ask? And THAT should be the question we keep asking.

18.  It's fine to support Sam , however it will do no good
AAR as well as any other liberal network will do what they need to compete or to save a buck . Many tried to get AAR to bring Malloy back even Sam himself had Mike on his show when Mike drove up to NYC .

The only thing that came out of this was Mike at least had support and a long list on the petition to use as a part of a resume which may have helped .

As far as I'm concered AAR went to hell when they fired Malloy and went even further to change the programing slots . Once a network fights for profit instead of content you may as well kiss it good bye .

Personally I am so sick of this uphill battle . Even Nova M has adjusted their lineup taking Dr Mike off and then Peter B Collins and now the Jeff Farias show is today reformatted .

The only petition now that is worth a damn is one that would kill off the right wing multi- stations such as Rush and others , then hit the TV right wing shows . But this almost seems futile with clear channel holding the control .

There are more and more liberal stations vanishing each month , 5 vanish and perhaps one brings back one show such as Malloy in Portland .

I would have to say almost all media in this country is an abomination and I see no end in sight since it's all controlled by a few corporations .

AAR has it's head quarters in NYC and they have a half assed low power station to broadcast from . Here in Hollywood ,CA we have KTLA 1150 am and only Randi and Hartmann and Maddow are there the new show is Mr KABC who is not a liberal show and instead of calling it progressive talk radio it's now mainstream talk radio .

Internet streaming is the only option here and who can stream at work I can't say then there are podcasts or archives which sort of kills the callers .

19. Do you remember what their reason was
for firing Mike Malloy? I liked listening to him when he was on late night here in Chicago many years back - kept it interesting!

20.  All I know is
He was on late night , and was paid the least and it was the management who were not radio people at all who made this decision . Mike was standing in for Randi while she was on vacation and they fired Mike while he was on his way to the studio and did it over the phone .

Mike didn't have a contract , just an agreement but was promised a contract .
