The scariest part is : Nobody knows what to do about it...
"It" being the present occupation of America by a bunch of lawless neocons, led by a mediocre intellect that has failed at everything in life until he stole his way into the White House. Now, we all sit back and scream and march and yell until we are hoarse and nothing happens. The Senate attempts to pass "non-binding" resolution to say they disagree with what the esteemed leader is doing in Iraq. The criminal Republicans vow they will filibuster. Nothing is done as they continue to escalate the war, spy on Americans, open your mail, listen to your phone calls, fire lawyers, and bribe judges, etc...

The occupation in Iraq is only a diversion from the occupation of America. Yet, nobody does anything about it. For political reasons, they took impeachment "off the table". So, in effect, we no longer have a Congress for the people - they are there to protect the dictator in the White House. If anyone feels helpless, it is understandable.

2. Most people are living from paycheck to paycheck...
and could never afford to strike no matter the conditions... or are too afraid to even think about sacrifice.

3. Oh don't worry, Kucinich promised that if Bush attacks Iran
then impeachment will be on the table. I guess lying into one war, pissing on the Constitution, trampling on civil rights, torturing people, and setting himself up to be a dictator isn't enough for our fearless leaders. :eyes:

4. Too large and too specialized
We don't get to have everything. We don't get to live in a country that is 3000 miles from coast to coast, all have our specialized educations and careers, think human beings only get to have fun with all the new technology, be "represented" by a small number of people who speak for hundreds of thousands or millions of people at the same time, and then have any power. All we have is hope, and all that does is keep us chained to the way things are.

If we want things to change, we need to take the energy out of the system. When we're ready to stop paying taxes(they pay for education and infrastructure, but they also pay for war and who knows what at DARPA and the Pentagon), stop going to work, stop taking the drug, and just slow down, maybe we can have some say again. Until then, we have no control over our lives. Corporations and states own us, and both only increase in scale and specialization.

5. All that I can say is ....
that we should be more careful, thoughtful, and diligent about whom we support and especially for whom we vote.
Experience and proven stability might be starters; reading comprehension might not hurt.
It does start and probably end at the top. Practically everyone else in the bureaucracy serves at his/her whim and is in tune with his/her doctrine. The blame is almost totally at the top, as I see it.
All these eighteen plus candidates - and others yet to declare - aren't fit to even run for president. It's a shame they think they are. Some serious weeding is in order.
Forty years from now - if we survive - the best thing to have happened to the republic might have been the terms of shrub. It might have taught the electorate "never again!".
There must be a lesson learned surely ... if we survive!
I suffer with you, bro.

...O...
