Liberals push to impeach Bush

Congressional Democrats say their constituents are clamoring for something even the most liberal lawmakers promise they won't pursue: President Bush's impeachment.

"I get one call after another saying, 'Impeach the president,' " said Rep. John P. Murtha, Pennsylvania Democrat and one of Mr. Bush's most relentless critics on the Iraq war. "It's a simple process but a very divisive thing," Mr. Murtha said. "You've got to measure what it's going to do to the country, and at this point I don't see that happening. Instead we'll fight it out on the issues."

Some members speculated that the Democratic takeover of Congress and passage of Iraq withdrawal timetables in both the House and Senate have emboldened liberals across the country who want to see the president embarrassed during his final 21 months in office.

Rep. Diane Watson, California Democrat, said she hears calls for impeachment from every crowd. "They say, 'Democrats: Do something. Get Cheney, Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales.' They are saying impeachment. I am hearing that more and more and more," said Ms. Watson.

1. So it's just the pesky liberals calling for impeachment?
I guess there's not a single apolitical person in this country who would like to see competence and integrity in our leadership? Yeah, right!

4. Murtha is a conservative Democrat and most of his constituents are conservative to
moderate. Many GOP 'cross the line' to vote for him.

So it isn't just liberals, I would wager.

That said, I don't see it happening.

5. As much as I want it, we still need them pesky 67
votes in the senate to convict... when you find them let me know

(and they may materialize by the way... as the elections get closer... but only if you and I keep up the pressure)

6. why do they say it's too divisive, it will SAVE the country
from an unchecked executive branch, did they not get a clue when he appointed Fox as
Ambassador to Belgium, he's trying to destroy the congress and the judicial branch so
that there is nothing left but a rubber stamp.

7. There has never been more reason to impeach anyone
than there is to impeach Bush and Cheney. It is because of people like them that impeachment exists as a remedy. Throw the Bums Out!.

10. The President will be impeached only if ...

The Democrats are not about to take a hollow indictment without conviction into an election. The President (and Dr. Evil) will only be impeached at the point when Republicans ask the Democrats to do it. In the mean time the Congress needs to hold hearings, get people on the record and perform the oversight duties of Congress.

11. Regrettably, I agree. However,
"In the mean time the Congress needs to hold hearings, get people on the record and perform the oversight duties of Congress."

Unfortunately, Congress is not presently willing to do this, at least insofar as rigorously performing its oversight duties. Granted, it has to a considerable extent been stymied by Bushco, but that is all the more reason to impeach.

If Clinton can be impeached because he LIED about a blow job, we have 100x TRUE Crimes and Misdemeanors that you can go DIRECTLY to Impeachment Proceedings.

:wtf: is wrong with our Congressional Democrats? Are they in on this FARCE with regard to keeping the American people frightened and compliant with Authoritarian Rule?

WHEN WILL LORD PISSYPANTS BE TOLD "NO!" ON EVEN ONE DAMN ISSUE?!?

Impeach NOW ...with extreme prejudice. Send these criminals to The Hague NOW so that our children will not have to deal with these Nazis' offspring who will slither out of the woodwork if we don't DESTROY their rule NOW ... LIKE NOW DAMMIT! :grr:
