Cut the military budget by at least thirty percent!
A lot of it is pork, with over 700 bases around the world, which would do the world a service if we got rid of. We need to scale down our nuclear threat, so that the world does not threaten us. A lot of the budget is black, meaning it is secret; who knows where that money is going. Maybe to CIA goons to rendition poor innocents to torture cells around the globe.

The Freepers want cuts, we will give them cuts. lol

1. Disband the Imperial Army, Marine Corps
A standing military is and always has been the greatest threat to American Democracy and the World, because you never know when a Decider is going to want to use it...

5. I always thought 30%....
was a good place....to start. There's so much waste in the defense budget, they don't even try to hide it any more. They wear it like a badge of honor. The conversation in the Pentagon goes somethng like this.... "We can't account for $7 billion, oopsie. No biggie, the always give us more, we get whatever we want. Take THAT NCLB".

Damn straight, cut 'em and cut 'em HARD!

6. Cut as much as possible
Why are there still bases in Germany, for heaven's sake? Or Japan, for that matter? Why is the military building weapons systems for enemies who don't exist? It's a big boondoggle, and the money could be spent on human needs, not on killing humans or preparing to kill them.

I'd love to see a strictly defensive military. There's no logical reason (except for obscene macho pride) that the U.S. has to be the biggest bruisers on the planet. In fact, it's a temptation to do evil unchecked, as the Iraq debacle shows.

7. From a Practical Point of View, I Like What Clinton Did
there was no sudden budget slash, but over the course of his presidency, the military budget steadily dropped as a percentage of the budget and the GNP. With Clinton pursuing mostly peaceful policies, there was no single thing for supporters of a hug military to get traction on.

With Bush's hug increases, it's possible to be more aggressive. The final number depends on strategy. 30% cuts with the current internationalist strategy is a good goal. 75% cuts with a truly defensive military like most other countries is an even better goal.

You know, deep in your hearts, you like goose-stepping around, secure in the knowledge we are number ONE! and The World's Only Superpower!

Yeah, BushAmerica may be a third world dump with no national health and a crumbling infrastructure; but we are FEARED. And that's what counts when you are a Christian nation.

WWJD? Why He'd dig a little deeper into His pockets (if He's got any in that robe He wears) and give whatever He could to the Bush Crime Family, secure in the knowledge they are spreading Truth, Justice and the American Way around the globe.

9. Reminds me of the old joke: What do you call 100 banjos at the bottom of the ocean?
A good start.

I saw something recently that said that 51% of all governement spending goes for past and present wars.
