CONYERS: Not Only Is It In Our Power-It Is Our OBLIGATION TO STOP BUSH
Edited on Sat Jan-27-07 06:51 PM by kpete
The House Judiciary Committee chairman, Rep. John Conyers, threatened to use congressional spending power to try to stop the war. “George Bush has a habit of firing military leaders who tell him the Iraq war is failing,” he said, looking out at the masses. “He can’t fire you.” Referring to Congress, the Michigan Democrat added: “He can’t fire us.

“The founders of our country gave our Congress the power of the purse because they envisioned a scenario exactly like we find ourselves in today. Now only is it in our power, it is our obligation to stop Bush.”

2. The Congress needs not to be fearful if they fulfill their obligation, but fearful
of what's going down if they do not fulfill their obligation, keeping in mind there is no possible nice, pretty, or clean resolution to this disaster, i.e.. if the decider decides all, there is no guarantee of success but a guarantee of more of the same, maybe much more.

9. Conyers has a resolution to start impeachment proceedings
why doesn't he introduced it?

Am I the only one that remembers this?

Congress has the power, he is the head of the Judiciary committee.

HE is OBLIGATED to stop Bush through IMPEACHMENT proceedings!

I am tired of the Dems pretending they can't do anything. We have the majority now!

14. I believe it was introduced a year ago or more
The Repugs ignored it and the Dems so far are doing the same. However, I'm not sure if it needs to be reintroduced now there's a new Congress. At the very least BushCo have given Conyers plenty more to add to it since then.
