3. In the short run, yes. But not in the long run.

Even if the investigations get every member of the Smirk admin to quit - - or even if Cheney or Smirk is eventually impeached - - it won't stop some future admin from trying to become a law unto itself. (How long was it between Nixon and Smirk?)

Investigations by themselves also won't reverse global warming, get us out of Iraq, reform campaign financing, get us universal health care... etc., etc., etc.
