"Empty Debate" (troops already shipping/'surging')
http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2007/01/26/01

The president’s plan to send more than 20 thousand additional troops to Iraq is being hotly debated on Capitol Hill. But the troops are already shipping out. Defense analyst Bill Arkin says that while the press obsesses over politics, they’re missing the facts on the ground.

2. Thanks, it's been driving me nuts -- all this pretense that there's anything left to "stop".
It's a done deal. The new deployment orders went out on the very day that the Deciderer announced his decision.

Some troops who were due to rotate out are being held over. Others who were due to rotate in had their deployment dates moved up. Still others are being shuffled in out of other deployments. The new "Clear and Hold" Baghdad operations have already begun.

No, forget debating about how best to score political points about the "surge", it's a done deal. Now the question for Congress becomes; what are you going to do about the fact that you have absolutely NO say on how the Deciderer decides to run His War?

Are you going to let that stand right up to the nuclear bombing of Iran?
