Is anybody else as mad as I am about Russert on MTP just referring people to the website for the (lame) Lam "retraction"?

So, people without internet access, or people who expected an on-air retraction of an on-air lie are just high and dry?!

Here's what Russert said:

So right now anyone who depends mostly on TV for their info still has the lie stuck in their head! (Yes, I know, anyone who depends mostly on TV for their info is mostly getting fed propaganda and lies, but, remember--then they go out and vote!!! We gotta do what we can to save 'em!!!!)

I think we should all scream bloody murder to MTP, for all the good it will do, just for the record. And, who knows, it *might* do some good. I've seen organized screaming work before. Here's their mailbox:

I belong to both FAIR and Media Matters. But I still say that some people do listen to it and take it *without* a grain of salt, unless they are educated in some way. Letters to Russert might accomplish that, in a small way, if there were enough that they felt they had to air one or two. I think we're learned the perils of just ignoring these people.

I still think it stinks that an on-air lie was met with an on-web, sort-of, retraction. *Hatch* should have been on there delivering the retraction in person.

And some people (a dwindling number, I admit) still do listen to the corporate media, unfortunately. So I still think some watchdogging of the corporate media is warranted.

Somehow we the general public do get bits and pieces of info that the MSM hopes falls to the bottom of the news cycles but is kept alive by the internet.

On C-span today there was a group discussion of Security and the Media. Quite interesting. Discussed how the NY Times & Post, the major medias, decide what secret/classified info they get and have verified by more than one source to print. C-span does play an important part in getting the info out along with some magazines like Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, etc.

That is why your comment caught my attention. The polls are against the Iraq war and the administration. Info is getting out there in spite of the Russet's of the media. He really stepped in it this a.m.! This will be bantered about more than if he had told us what the rebuttal was!!!

30. There must be plenty of people out there watching that haven't

had time through the week to see what is going on and these programs must get quite an audience. I want to know why some people believe the way they do and it must be from listening to the Russerts of the media.

My grandson and I today were discussing us getting out of Iraq and he thinks if we leave we are leaving ourselves open to more attacks, that it will make us look weak, etc.. Only way in a few minutes of discussion I could counter what he thought was by asking him questions as to how he came to the conclussions he had. He is 21 and listens to just enough news to get buffaloed. I asked him where we would get this huge military that would be required for an ongoing war since the last 4 years has been downhill for our cause over there and then threw in the idea of a draft since too few were signing up! He isn't ready to be part of our fighting force I'm sure.
