On teevee today: Two great speeches unintendedly back to back.
Dr. Regina Benjamin, of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, was introduced by President Obama. Her story is remarakble. No member of her family was there as all but one is dead ..... from preventable diseases. If you're not familiar with her story, do yourself a favor and look her up.

And then there was Sheldon Whitehouse. In his opening remarks at the Sotomayor confirmation hearings, he called out the whole "activist judge" bullshit and named names and cited cases. Powerful stuff. It also demonstrated the sheer hypocrisy of the right wing rhetoric.

Extra points: Where have we heard before about Bayou La Batre?
