Poll question: Will Keith Olberman be allowed to name Imus "Worst Person in the World"?
Edited on Mon Apr-09-07 06:59 AM by bklyncowgirl
Ordinarily some TV or radio host who said something as racist and sexist as Imus's crack about the Rutger's women's basketball team would hit the top of the "Worst Person in the World" list in a heartbeat. The problem is that Keith and Imus work for the same network. Will Keith bow to corporate pressure and keep Imus off the list? Will he go full speed ahead and put Imus where he belongs? Will he find another way to handle the issue?

What do you think?

2. You didn't have a choice that can vote for- Keith will not put Imus
on this list, but not because he is afraid of losing his job. He will just not do this to his colleague at MSNBC.

3. Keith needs to compile all the crap Imus has said (and is now saying he didn't say)
No comment necessary.

4. Imus
has apologized quite sincerely for what he said.

there are many things that are directly attributed to him that he didnt say (perhaps someone else on his show said them)

I think we should forgive Imus and move on.

6. Don't agree. He has said this stuff for YEARS. Or eggs Bernie on to say the very worst
stuff. And just laughs and encourages and finishes the sentence. Imus is GUILTY of spewing hateful bigotry for YEARS. This isn't the first time he's been called on it. Every time it's happened before, his minions gather round, laugh it off, he promises Clarence Page he'll do better.

This time MAY be different, though. He's going to let Al Sharpton take him to school this afternoon. Might be worth the price of admission.

he made his career of making fun all races, religions.

Imus makes fun of EVERYBODY, himself included. In fact he is often the biggest target of jokes on his show.
additionally members of his show or former members have been suspended when they crossed the line (ie sid rosenberg when he made comments about the williams sisters)

perhaps Imus should get the same weeklong suspension that Sid got in that incident.

additionally Sharpton is one of the most divisive people out there. remember the Tawana Brawely incident. maybe he was duped in that situation, maybe not. but he automatically assumes that if it is a black vs white issue, the black person is in the right.

7. It's likely that Keith's hands are tied on this one
But it'll be interesting to see how he manages to work the story of Imananus onto Countdown.

8. I think he may put Imus on the list--below someone like Dick Cheney.
It's a sort of difficult position--had Imus been on any other network he'd be on the list--if he doesn't put him on he can be accused of turning a blind eye to a colleague's racist remarks.

My guess is he'll put Imus on the list with a comment but leave the top spot for the really bad guys.

9. An Imus-Olbermann showdown will be good for ratings. So I'm saying "yes."
