..to the efficiency of the mass media. In a country where you can legally sell Velveeta™ and call it cheese, convincing people that 'health reform should wait till the economy improves' is relatively easy.

This is the only country on the planet, so far as I know, and the first, if it isn't, to make marketing an academic discipline and a university major.
