I'm finally relying mostly on indy media and they're usually days ahead and no where near the spin. :shrug:

3. I don't watch TV, but I do see a lot of crap headlines in my google news results

I think some mainstream info is vital. Little indy media outfits just don't have the ability to cover a range of issues like CBS News or AP or Reuters.

I am trying hard to always be open to a large segmant of news sources and look for spin or contradictions...trying to inform myself and look past bias and agenda.

4. What I've found myself doing is going to smaller, niche outlets.

Democracy Now can be streamed. I believe Laura Flanders' reports on GritTV can also be watched on line. So can Moyers. And there are other small outlets that are available on line for issue reporting -- for the Middle East (Mosaic/LinkTV) GayUSA (FreeSpeechTV). others, for Native American issues, and still more for the economy, environment, foreign relations. It's sure different than just turning on CNN but the reporting is much better.

After watching these smaller productions, CNN et all are pretty much unwatchable for me. A lot of noise and not so much news at all. If they were just opposing viewpoints, that would be one thing. But they're corporate entertainment in news drag. I'd rather watch these smaller shows with their quieter sets and get information but, that's just mo.
