Thank god Howard Dean smacked down Maria Bartiroma on MJ today!

I usually turn it off or to another show when the lovely Maria comes on (looking like she had a really rough night, always). But today I had the delicious experience of watching Dean disect Maria's rant about drug rationing in the UK. He simply reminded everyone that NO ONE is talking about a UK style health care bill for our country. Then he went on about how private enterprise doesn't work in the health care arena and explained it carefully but succinctly.

When he got through with Maria, she sat there looking dazed. She can't even debate the issue. She just has a bunch of RW talking points that are a propos of nothing and keeps spouting them self righteously.

I think she's got a whole show on MSNBC tonight about "health care". I plan to be very busy elsewhere...

1. It was sexist and un-PC of me, but I laughed at my wife's first reaction to MB's looks...

... this morning, which was, "What's the deal? Was she up servicing half of Goldman Sachs last night or what?"

4. I have a good friend in Financial Services. She is a strong feminist but what
she has to say about Maria is close to what your wife said!

Maria always looks like a slob. Today, however, at least her hair wasn't sloppily put up in a pony tail with some of it sticking straight out. She has bug out eyes all the time, made worse when she's been out on the town the night before her MJ appearances.

10. Speaking of Countdown, does any one know where Keith is?
Seems like he's been gone a long time. Hope he's just on vacation or working the baseball games, and not sick or something.

3. We Must also Remember Something...

.......About BIG PHARMA........WE here in the USA not only develop some of the finest most innovative pharmaceuticals in the world but we also pay the highest percentage of R&D and advertising cost while Europe/Asia ect.. get the same products for far less and sell them back to their people at pennies on the dollar while we in the states pay through the nose for the same technology...

This is what we need to get under control to get cost down as well and the $30.00 syringe at the hospital.

5. Right, it's not an either/or situation. The RW wants us to believe that but it's not true.
Maria is just carrying water for the industry. That's what her show is going to be about...

6. In other words, the GOP is just fine with socialized medicine... OUTSIDE the US!
You, the patient and taxpayer, are propping up "socialized" medicine. You, the patient, are paying for the commercials pitching PRESCRIPTION medications one sees on evening newscasts (read: the media bought and paid for by PhRMA).

Time for a national health care plan -- including limits on advertising.

8. The Pharmas need to stop spending so much AD time at MSM
That is a huge reason that the MSM keeps bashing the Health Care Bill etc.

PHARMAS are night and day and the Viagra Ads are front and center.

It is shameful in my view.

9. Baucus made his deal on pharma, but what about House and negotiation of price. Can't imagine
restricting ads passing, especially from media yelling, but how can we limit? Percentage of costs, or is that too controlling to private industry to pass?

7. I only watched MJ long enough to hear Maria and Mika toss talking pts back and forth.
This morning the main point was about focusing on lifestyle improvements-- the idea being apparently that poor people with all their bad habits are a drag on the insurance and system and health care providers.

Maria is a real piece of work. Mika's just plain dumb.
