Republican nutball fringe wants you! Mark Morford

The birthers ate my love child! Obama is not human! The truth awaits
By Mark Morford

These are the kinds of things that ooze into your mind and infect your consciousness like some sort of unwelcome but fascinating worm, a cute little parasite you didn't notice for the longest time because you were busy doing something far more interesting and engaging -- like, say, reading a book, sipping a glass of wine, having sex, breathing, clipping your toenails, picking lint off your couch or, well, pretty much anything at all because really, who wants to think about oozing, unwelcome worms?

Do you know about "The birthers"? Have you been reading about this adorable little screamin' rantin' kookaburra ultra-right wing mini-movement that is right now hell-bent and heck-happy on hijacking the entire GOP agenda by questioning the veracity of President Obama's birth certificate?

It's true. The birthers are, apparently, a horde of fringe Republican funbots who are attempting to prove that the president was not actually born in Honolulu to mixed-race parentage back in August of '61, but instead was really spawned in some sort of bizarre test-tube experiment in a secret underground bunker in the '20s, somewhere in Islamabad and is really a handsome, radical Muslim fundamentalist robot who just so happens to enjoy mom jeans and has a wicked jump shot. Or something.

What delightful times we live in. Is it not the sweetest thing ever, the fact that this whack-job of a story is all over the news cycle and Fox News is stroking itself raw with the cheesy tabloid glory of it all, and even the most stoic, surly GOP congressman is now finding himself in the odd position of defending the president's very existence, as he fights off the rabid idiocy of his own party's nutball fringe? ...

4. And lucrative careers
Edited on Wed Jul-29-09 07:03 AM by PATRICK
Who would have thought the cheapest of online or fly by night degree programs could quickly reward someone with top national exposure and expert credentials. The Jeff Gannon- accredited journalist extraordinaire phenomenon is not the sole example. Degrees in science, law, ministry or whatever might look good in job placements for GOP hit-men don't seem to come before discovery of such fortuitously right wing mindsets with cheap paper.

Sponsorship, money, even for the flimsiest of training cover likely predate the daring career move and certainly no effort is put into polishing the knowledge once the swift dollars come boating in. The RW is excessively cheap in setting up these experts and almost universally afraid of ACTUALLY providing a decent well rounded education as cover. Quick ed, quick bucks, quick fame with no fear of being called out because the almighty ignorance machine of the MSM protects its own(like Jeff) or its sources(like oligarch puppets and info expert hit-men). The personal career profile of any of these wunderkind really would be something to behold perhaps in some inspirational book biography(ghost written by some RW foundation literary expert) that the top sleaze in this country have been using for many decades as a way to launder payoffs to truth assassins and stooges.

Who were their pals, these like minds, recruiters who perhaps decided to grant an anonymous scholarship for the cheap, fast track schooling to MSM expertdom? What was the interesting flow of money, the quid pro quo, the source of their research direction and even the words that come out of their parrot beaks? What is the secret, in other words, of their success? That alone might inspire the unscrupulous class of youth into undertaking a proven path to career success without actually having to work or achieve anything in glamorous fields of endeavor.

By contrast, hockey players hired solely for their skills at taking out the players of the opposing team, or ex-government spooks recruited as assassins are suckers for their grueling efforts and always subject to punishment by the rules. Mafia psychopaths too would be better advised not to get a gun- but a degree.

Then connect and collect, because it is easier to give the MSM something that they want than a self-evident national scoop on the truth.
