Email from Hillary to Rutgers Women's Basketball Team
Dear

When our children are young, we teach them to dream big and reach for the stars, and that if they work hard enough they can accomplish anything.

This year the Rutgers women's basketball team defied the odds and lived up to their dreams, providing inspiration to every little boy and girl beginning to pick up a ball or open a book. These remarkable young women reached the pinnacle of success and won the hearts of basketball fans everywhere with their grace, skill, and poise. They are role models deserving our praise -- and our support.

Don Imus's comments about them were nothing more than small-minded bigotry and coarse sexism. They showed a disregard for basic decency and were disrespectful and degrading to African Americans and women everywhere.

Please join me in sending the young women of Rutgers a message of respect and support. Show them that we are proud to stand with them and for them.

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/respect

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

As the mother of a former female college student athlete, I sent my own personal note. These young women are truly America's future and deserve America's support, whatever your political views of Hillary Rodham Clinton may be.

1. I'm Glad She Was Able To Rise Above The Controversy
and take a stand on this issue. Some may blast her for this - I hope she can wether the storm.

10. Not exactly a profile in courage
You write, "Some may blast her for this...." Uh, who, exactly? I have nothing against her message to the team, but it's not a very big deal. She's standing up for her beliefs at the risk of alienating the racists and sexists among the Democratic primary voters. Well, most of the racists left the party long ago, and the sexists weren't going to vote for her anyway.

Has she yet announced her position on the Reid-Feingold bill?

7. Done.
I don't care what anyone says about Mrs. Clinton, she is always one of the first to be there in situations like this. Mrs Edwards comes to mind also. Kudos to you Mrs. Clinton!

Here's what I wrote:

As a long-time diehard Lady Vol fan, I was rooting against you in the final - but I rooted for you up until then. Thank you for bumping off Duke and LSU, both of whom had beaten the LV. You had a season to be proud of, and you should be proud, both of the way you played, and of yourselves.

Oh, and forget the jerk. He's not worth one second of your attention. You, and many like you, are this country's future. He is a relic of the past, trying to show how hip he is. Just picture Nicky Anosike blocking his shot with both hands, right down his throat. I know several of you can conjure up THAT image! :)

14. Nicky almost went to Rutgers
She was player of the year in NYC her senior year. Probably knows most of the Rutgers players. Here she is going to bat FOR them, having, along with the rest of the LV, thoroughly trounced them in the finals.

16. its a vehicle for contacting the players? - I disagree, Hillary had to play catch-up to Obama's
calling for Imus's dismissal and as usual she waited to see the response BEFORE! she responded, she isn't a leader, she's a follower, actions clearly speak for themselves...No?

17. you disagree?
She provides a form where you can write a message of respect to the players. You write it. Yourself. You can add "I hate Hillary" at the end if you want

Do you object to doing that just because Clinton provided it?
