Dear Friend,
We are on the verge of making history!
In the wake of revelations that Sarasota County election officials knew nearly three months prior to Election Day that the voting machines they planned to use were flawed, Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald, chairwoman of the House Committee on Administration, has created a three member bi-partisan task force. Finally, we will have a thorough investigation of the electronic voting machines that changed the outcome of the race in Florida's 13th District. I am confident that this newly-formed Congressional task force will find out once-and-for-all what happened to those 18,000 missing votes.
And just as importantly, this task force will finally reveal the truth about paperless touchscreen voting machines. They are unreliable, easy to manipulate, and a threat to the very heart of our democracy. It is essential that we get rid of them once and for all, before they "accidentally” affect the outcome of the presidential race in 2008.
This is our chance! Can you help me continue the fight? It will cost at least $45,000 for me to keep fighting while Congress conducts its investigation. I need your help!
Please donate $500, $50, or even $5 by clicking here. Every dollar counts, so please give whatever you can!
The Republicans in Congress are trying to prevent the task force from getting started. Fortunately, however, Representative Charles Gonzalez (TX-20), who will chair the task force, has said that he will convene the task force on April 17th no matter what the Republicans try to do. Said Gonzalez: "Voters throughout our nation must be assured that their right to cast a ballot and have that vote counted is protected without compromise."
We have made so much progress Karl Rove has listed Vern Buchanan as the second most vulnerable Republican in Congress.
Karl Rove knows that if the voters of Florida's 13th District are able to vote in an honest election, Vern Buchanan is in big trouble. Remember, several statistical analyses have shown that I should have defeated Vern Buchanan by about 3,000 votes.
Please help me raise the $45,000 I need to keep going. Donate $50 or whatever you can right now. I can't do this without you!
Our effort has become the national test case for why we need election reform in this country. ES&S, Diebold, and other companies like them have distributed electronic voting machines all over the country. Thank you for helping me take this fight to Congress. Together we can make sure that something like this never happens again. Thank you again for all of your support. It means so much to me.
Sincerely,
Christine Jennings
