A sample of Health Care Town Hall front pages - 8-13-2009

All culled from: http://www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages/default.asp

The Aurora Sentinel photo is being used on three or four front pages. I just went alphabetically through the list, and grabbed what I saw. The recurring theme is -- anger.

1. Here is what i see.... a media that wants to make it seem like no one supports healthcare reform.
All the images and headlines seem to be suggesting there are no supporters in the public for this reform. The media has been doing this bs for a long time.... all through the primaries and the election they tried to do this stuff..... trying to make their story become real.... if they say it and loud enough and long enough then people will start to believe it and then it will be true. i hope to hell it doesn't work.

2. There's A Reason For This
I'm not convinced the goal of the media is to help kill health care reform. The media thrives on controversy, loves confrontation. If they don't find it they will help create it. When they find it, they will exagerate and exploit. It is much more "fun" and "interesting" (not to mention easier) to cover "angry mobs" over health care than to do some real investigative journalism and track down the source of these displays.

The people who most need health care reform are too sick to protest. The working poor can't afford to take time away from their jobs when they are ill, much less to go talk to their elected reps about their needs. They don't make interesting news.

4. Then why weren't they interviewing people who protested the invasion of Iraq like this?
Why didn't they interview the protesters at the bush inaugurals? Why didn't the media call people, interview and provide a megaphone for those who believed the bush stole the election instead of merely calling them "conspiracy" theorists?

Why did newspapers wait until after the 2004 election to release bad news stories on the bush?

No, the corporate media is in bed with our run away health insurance corporations and the GOP. It's as clear as day.
