Can you handle the truth about health-care reform?
In an attempt to counter the copious amounts of ludicrous information being spewed forth by the “sour grapes” party on health-care reform, you can go to the official White House Web site and read what is actually in the proposed bills.
Of course, if you think President Barack Obama was born on Mars, you might as well stop reading now.
This information is not for those of you who won’t even bother reading or listening to the facts, instead framing your opinions on health-care reform from the latest series of e-mails claiming “Obamacare” will “kill your granny;” or if your search for the truth usually involves picking up the remote to check faux news; or tuning your radio into Rush Limbaugh for some hate talk.
The “reality check” link at www.whitehouse.gov is meant for those people willing to actually learn a little about health-care reform — you know, people who still possess the skill of critical thinking and who may even question why we’re the only industrialized nation in the world without adequate health care, although we spend much more than anyone else.
So for those of you who’d prefer not to bother with such tedious things as facts, and would rather share your e-mails and a cup of tea with some of those sour grapes and a bunch of nuts, carry on!
Your childish antics at the town-hall meetings can be somewhat amusing, even if the goal is to disrupt the democratic process.
Now that’s patriotism for you.
