I know that mention of prominent people's passing is to be expected, but 24-7 coverage is excessive.
Every time a person dies, for whom there is ample photographic data, "news" takes a holiday, and we are treated to an endless supply of all the news-people we have ever known, as they all must "share" their personal stories about the departed person.
With each death, the coverage gets ratcheted up, and they must feel obligated to not slight someone , when compared to the coverage of the "last one" they covered.
Everyone who dies, has a sphere of influence, where their passing will be deeply mourned, but not EVERYONE needs to see or wants to see "all the details".
When important people die, there are always the specials that pop up in the following weeks, so why not just let the family & friends have their private moments, and just tell us about it, perhaps with a little footage, but not the wall-to-wall stuff..unless there's a Grief & Sorrow Network.. People could grab their kleenex, tune in for a while, weep over the latest passing , and then go on with their lives.
