She’s got a good life, 2 kids, a nice home, health insurance, a good annual income from her husband’s business, and she has a husband who works full time so she can stay home. But yet! Ole Katy after 8 years of the Bush Regime is now getting involved into politics and says the ‘Sleeping Giant’ has been awoken. She’s absolutely terrified now! Yes, that’s right! She didn’t care under George Bush about illegal torture, illegal spying of Americans (she couldn’t believe that someone got her cell phone number so quickly!), the DOW dropping 8,000 points, she was fine with Social Security benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, the socialized medicine our soldiers have received, two wars costing Americans tens of billions a month for years, tax cuts for the uber wealthy while the rest were screwed, being lied to over and over, the VP having his own personal assassination squad, or how George Bush & Dick Cheney laughed at the U.S. Constitution by making up their own laws and ignoring the ones on the books!

Abram could be generally civil to the African-Americans she encounters in daily life (however, if she lives in Utah like so many other Mormons, that's not likely to be many encounters) but the unnameable unease is the manifestation of systemic racism that she has accrued in her life.

If she really wanted to "go back" to the original Constitution, she would be disenfranchising herself. So then what is it that was better "back then?"
