All-purpose thread for definitive opinions concerning events you don't know much about
Post here the next time someone gets tased, or has their rights violated, or gets mistreated in any way shape or form.

It doesn't matter if you actually witnessed the event in question or have any first-hand knowledge of it.

Just let your pre-existing biases be your guide.

11. There are several ways to reuse leftover popcorn. You can use it
as a breakfast cereal, or you could make cute pictures by gluing it to construction paper. I also just read where someone poured jello over it. :( The other and final thought was to freeze it and serve it when those pesky in-laws or other unwelcome visitors come calling. :P

2. There's something fishy about professional wrestling.
Furthermore, I'm beginning to suspect that American Idol is rigged.

13. Boeing planes are much better than Airbus', because Boeing is based in the US.
Airbus' defenders will have you believe that its employees have national health care, so that its planes are better, but don't believe them. ;)

(I know nothing about aircraft construction, but have a pre-existing bias. Does this qualify?)

15. The Wright Brothers invented the airplane because the drive to the Outer Banks was too damn long
In fact, once upon a time you couldn't even drive there. Wilbur almost drowned taking a boat ride over there the first time he went.

And now there are no airports on the Outer Banks.

16. I live near Dayton and I always wondered why the Wright Brothers left the area and
did their first flights in North Carolina.

Damn, it was all because of driving problems and a bad boat ride to the Outer Banks. You just never know where you're going to learn a little "new history". ;)

17. Have you ever had a soft-shelled crab taco at the Bad Bean Taqueria in Corolla?
It's worth the drive.

18. No. We were in the OBX this spring for the first time, but didn't try that.
Don't know when we'll be back, but thanks for the tip.

19. Better go back soon. The Banks will be washed away by the next big storm
The Outer Banks were fine for thousands of years.

Big storms would move sand from one place to another. No problem.

Then some jackass(es) decided the Banks needed bridges and roads.

Bridges and roads don't like being moved.

Some folks get all bent out of shape about the allegedly unnatural things that people do in the privacy of their own homes.

Meanwhile they don't give a damn when the government spends millions of dollars trying to re-write actual laws of nature.

I just don't get it.

14. I'm concerned that by using anti-bacterial soap we may be killing off intelligent life forms
we know nothing about. I saw this on Star Trek, so it might be true. I'm trying to find a way to communicate with my foot fungus. I'm worried I could be charged with committing fungicide.

22. Kudzu was a comic strip by the sorely missed Doug Marlette
He was a really nice guy who was expanding from being a cartoonist into a promising novelist, until his life was cut short by a car accident in Mississippi.

24. Seriously, you should read Marlette's books
The Bridge has a lot to do with the forgotten history of labor strife in North Carolina.

Along with some not-so-thinly disguised composites of the Hillsborough literati that made him persona non grata in his neighborhood.
