1. You should give people a hint, I'm not clicking on a strange link without some
background material, a few paragraphs, to give me a sense of what I'm in for.

It's polite to do. The people with dialup appreciate it as well.

4. Post a few paragraphs so people can decide if they want to explore further.
When you just post a link, people have no way of knowing if they're going to have to wait to load a graphic intensive site, perhaps, just for some iffy crap. It's simple courtesy.

And no, I'm not affilated with the Agency. Of course, if I were, I rather doubt I'd be telling you!

5. No, most employees are in nearby McLean
http://ludb.clui.org/ex/i/VA3140/

...An office building complex in suburban Virginia is the home of the CIA, one of the major intelligence organizations in the world, and a centralized hub for the (nearly) full spectrum of intelligence assets operated by the United States and cooperating governments, corporations, and organizations. The number of employees and the budget of the CIA is officially classified, though it is estimated (2001) that there are around 17,500 employees (not including contractors), working with around $3 billion per year. The majority of workers are housed in two buildings on the 250 acre site in McLean. There is an Exhibit Center, within the new headquarters building, with historical CIA artifacts on display, such as miniature cameras and surveillance equipment, but it is not open to the public.
Location: McLean
Address: VA
Visitor Info: Secure installation. Well guarded. Tours not available.

6. It's a war-buff info website
The .com is a dead giveaway; it's journalism about the CIA, not some official website. Truthfulness? Who knows? The Domestic category refers to the agency, not where they operate.

The basics are that the CIA has little special ops teams, rather like the military's Green Berets (Army) and Seals (Navy). Doing what they call covert direct-action. More like Rambo than James Bond.
