Molly Ivins: Bubba, we -- yes, we --have to stop the war now
In light of recent events, I thought it would be nice to post one of her latest articles.
I'm lighting a candle for your Molly and sending you healing thoughts. Thank you for all that you have done to help us find peace.
I pray you find it as well.

>>>>snip
The president of the United States does not have the sense that God gave a duck -- so it's up to us. You and me, Bubba.

I don't know why George W. Bush is just standing there like a frozen rabbit, but it's time we found out. The fact is that WE have to do something about it. This country is being torn apart by an evil and unnecessary war, and it has to be stopped. NOW.

This war is being prosecuted in our names, with our money, with our blood, against our will. Polls consistently show that less than 30 percent of the people want to maintain current troop levels. It is obscene and wrong for the president to go against the people in this fashion. And it's doubly wrong for him to increase U.S. troop levels in this hellhole by up to 20,000, as he reportedly will soon announce.

What happened to the nation that never tortured? The nation that wasn't supposed to start wars of choice? The nation that respected human rights and life? A nation that from the beginning was against tyranny?

1. I love Molly Ivins.
But she way underestimated the potential damage George could do to this country, way back when he was running.

2. Yeah, so did I
She figured it out though and she has no problem with copping to a mistake. I wish to fuck cancer wasn't stealing her from us now. I wish she could have seen the coming revolution before she passed off of this mortal coil.

3. A great person.
I just have a some bad thoughts right now that we won't have Molly much longer. I hope that I'm wrong.

Oh, and for all the Texas haters here at DU - a wonderful Texan to boot.

5. Yes, the medical reports (or lack thereof) do not bode well. I'm heartbroken
because I absolutely "love" her, as I "loved" Ann Richards.

Both unabashadly Democrats, outspoken, funny, and not mean.

Great examples, both of them.

7. Molly Ivins, a speaker of truth with a twist of mirth and a lot of class.
I really love her, too. I'm heartbroken she's so sick, but will keep on keeping on in her name.
