1. If you can block out
Dana Carvey, who I thought never was funny and if I said, Dana carvey, David Spade, same person? Don't know! You be the judge....Over-all it was a 85% show....At the end Bill outs all the Pat Roberson Class D law school graduates that are now in the Justice Dept.

4. I'm not impressed with Rev Al, so don't know how far I'll get, but
I'm glad Maher picked up on Regent U. grads going to DoJ.

2. The last rule of "New Rules" segment was fantastic.
He exposed the Republican spin on the word "elite".

(Maher's saw the illogical spin as Elite vs. Hayseeds)

3. I don't know about the rest of it, but his opening monolog was pathetic last night
I usually like Maher, but for the first time I had to change the channel. If I hear the rest of it was good, maybe I'll take in one of the repeats.

not.

19. I usually love Sharpton, especially when he's funny, which is much of the time
Looking forward to watching a repeat of the show this week, especially if Sharpton was good.

6. Bill Bradley was as good as I've ever seen him
Edited on Sat Apr-14-07 11:23 PM by Bozita
I thought I detected a touch of charisma in Dollar Bill.

Carvey was lost, and it showed!

New Rules rule.

23. Worth it to watch Bradley. Though I thought he
was going to swat the inconsequential gnatlike Carvey. He was annoying. He never knows the issues and always interrupts the grown-ups with his "funny" bits. I don't know why Maher bothers to have him on the show.
Bradley really shut down poor Scottie -- who had been reasonable until he started parroting the "win in Iraq" Bushian talking points. Scottie was able to make a momentary rise above hall monitor only to lose his credibility by going into robot mode on Iraq.

7. "Some say" it sucked,
but my husband and I enjoyed it. Whatever they say about Dana Carvey, he wasn't nearly as annoying as Robin Williams was when he was on, IMO.

mean about Robin Williams, and that's why I love him, but there's only 'one' of him.

12. I like Robin when he's doing standup
and can run wild, but he does seem to have a hard time reining himself in on Real Time. I was kind of amused at Dana Carvey "mediating" between Bradley and Scotty.

10. One thought Bill had that made me really think was.........
if everyone in America were told (and it were true) that all you had to do to stop global warming was lose your remote control, would we be willing to make that sacrifice?
Think about it.....its a profound question. I honestly dont believe we would be willing to give up something as simple as this. Maybe 30%......maybe more.

old enough to walk over to the TV for me

Perhaps something in bamboo.

13. I'm there, but I also remember when I thought the remote control was
absurd. Hell, I remember when I disagreed with the concept of a 'mouse' to work your computer.
Shit, I'm old!

15. Would Americans? Not just "No"...
...But "Hell no" they wouldn't! I'm just not inspired to believe so by what I've seen in my lifetime.

And I think your 30% would be very generous.

22. The thing with a remote
is that you need it for programming, at least for TV's I've had.

They could make TV's less dependent on remotes by having more buttons on TV. It would be nice if they had a number pad instead of just up/down buttons...that doesn't work so well with the # of stations they have now.

My son was BIG on conservation when he was in high school, over a dozen years ago. In his honor I asked if there was a TV as above or were remotes that attached to TV with a cord and weren't battery powered. They acted like I was insane, who would want that? I noted that people who didn't want to use batteries for environmental reasons would want that.

24. Dana Carvey sucked!
We Tivo'd the show, so after initially seeing how lame Dana Carvey was, we fast forwarded when he was talking. Thought Bill was a little rude to Sheryl Crow and the other woman.
