Back at DU, Back in the fight
Hello DU

Its been quite some time since I posted. My life has been a complete wreck.

I spent a few months in county awaiting trial on Felony Charges - which were finally pled down to misdemeanor charges. Thats how they get you. In CA under an ounce of pot is nothing but a fine, but if they charge you with Felony for sale, you will rot a few months until they suddenly decide to let you plea to the Misdemeanor and go about your life. It is corrupt and beyond gestapoish. Habeus Corpus does not exist on any appreciable level. You do your time waiting then on the eve of trial, they let you plea to some nothing charge with a fine and time served. The effect has been dramatic on my life as you can imagine. Hopefully we can further change the drug laws. The ronnie raygun days really need to come to an end at some point. Hell, hes dead and buried - yet his legacy more than lives on.

I have been lurking a lot for a month. Kind of scared to post - trying to get over that hurdle. Back into the swing. DU has marched on! Washington DC was great. This country of ours is so Romanishly vile and corrupt, inside and out, in so many ways it is hard to fully grasp it and put your finger on it.

I must find the strength to join the rest of you and continue the fight. I have faced the monster; you cannot win. Even still, my friends at DU continue on - so I must also. DU gives me that strength.

The Democratic Party has made great strides, yet I almost wonder: for what? What is going to be done? The reality unfortunately is, little. Even with our party in power, the status quo is alive and well. The Democrats of course won; even as stupid as the sheeple are they see the corruption of the pugs. It was an "easy win". So hopefully we actually get something out of it. So far, nothing has changed and nothing looks like it will change; hence, we must continue to press our party to do the right thing.

Who to support for President? That rolls around in my head. Edwards and Clinton - I'm sorry, they don't represent me. I will vote for them if I have to, but they do not represent me. They are rich powerful people who have no real interest in me. Both would let me sit in jail over nothing. Neither really care.

I am losing hope for all. I am tired of the corruption and shills. I am tired of Status Quo, regardless of which party is in. I am tired.

But together, DU CAN make a difference by pressing the only last hope we really have - our Democratic Candidates. Hope that THEY will change. Hope that they will represent our ideals. So I once again rejoin you my friends to engage in that.

But I ask - where do we go from here?

Because, I really do not know.

Hello DU.

1. Welcome home!
I'm sorry to hear of your ordeal. :grouphug:

Jails are overcrowded.....Unless you make bail....the wait is dangerously grueling. I'm glad you are safe.

4. Jesus, you poor fellah!!!! Here you are doing a bit in the can for
a damned weed, and we've got an idiotic plant who belongs behind bars leading the nation....

Life is crazy.

Get back in the swing of things, put this behind you, get some medical help if you think you need it. Life is short, and life is good.

6. You wouldn't believe it.
Once the felony charges are put on paper - and I am quite sure they knew they were going to let me plea to a Misdemeanor charge on Day 1, you will sit and rot unless you can make bail, which I could not.

They want their pound of flesh. Once they get that, they will let you plea and try to regain life. It's a high stakes poker game, and the stakes are your ass.

I wont go into the whole story, but if you have been there, you know the nightmare. But the government enjoys the game, so I guess thats all that matters. /sarcasm.

8. I haven't been there, and from what you are saying, I'm pretty sure I'd just as soon avoid the trip!
I do hope you can pull it back together, though, and get back in the groove. I'm sure it wrings you out, leaves you debilitated--it sure doesn't sound like fun and games by any measure...

5. If it is any condolence
Our generation is coming into power.... a little late, but here we come.

Our job is to force the changes we see as necessary. Your case is one typifying the changes we need.

I see DU as a starting place on an endless journey and we need your experience in the mix. Don't ever let us forget the injustice visited upon you or we may just forget. Welcome back.

13. Actually, I have my prescription card now. My "green card"
I have some medical trouble and the medicinal effects of Marijuana are necessary.

I'm legal in CA now. I have what looks like a drivers license that allows me to possess pot.

I dont do other "drugs", not even drink.

14. welcome home, glad you are safe and ready to go back to work. can we change things? well, we did
manage to make a small change on 8 nov 2006.

"Illegitimati non carburundum" (very bastardized latin for "don't let the bastards grind you down.") I refuse to give up this country to the thugs and thieves, refuse to believe that it is all over. Perhaps I am too much of an optimist, or perhaps I am just too damned stubborn.
